How storm cleanup works
After a blow, we work the property in a strict order: anything still suspended or moving first, then wood on structures, then everything on the ground. Hangers - half-broken limbs caught in the canopy - come down before anyone works underneath, because the next gust doesn't send a warning.
Wood under tension is the quiet danger of storm work. A limb pinned under a trunk stores spring energy; a bent sapling under a fallen tree is a loaded catapult. Releasing that energy in a controlled way, from the right side of the cut, is most of what separates professional storm cleanup from a chainsaw accident. It's also why we'd rather you not 'get a head start' on the pile before we arrive.
Everything gets cut to loadable size, chipped or loaded, and hauled off. Lawn raked, driveway swept, and if a damaged tree can be saved with corrective pruning instead of removal, we'll say so.

Common questions
A big limb is hanging in my tree - is that urgent?
Yes, treat hangers as urgent. They're called widow-makers for a reason: they come down without warning, in whatever wind arrives next. Keep people out from under the tree and get it dealt with. Wind, rain weight, or just time finishes the break eventually, and a limb heavy enough to hang in the canopy is heavy enough to punch through shingles. If it's over a roof, a driveway, or a play area, treat it as this-week work, not someday work.
Do you remove the debris, or just cut it up?
Both - cutting, chipping, and full haul-away are part of the job. We don't leave a log pile at the curb unless you specifically want the wood kept. The chipper handles everything up to substantial limb wood on site, and log wood leaves on the truck. If you'd rather keep the wood for your own stove, we'll buck it to length and stack it - just say so when we quote.
Can a storm-damaged tree be saved?
Often, yes. A tree that lost a limb or two can usually be cleaned up with proper pruning cuts. A split trunk or a lifted root plate usually can't. We'll give you an honest read during the estimate. The rule of thumb arborists use: a tree that lost less than a third of its crown, with the main trunk and leader intact, is usually worth saving with clean corrective cuts. A split main union or a lifted root plate is structural failure - that tree is coming down eventually, and on its own schedule if not yours.
How soon after a storm can you come?
Active hazards get priority response. General cleanup gets scheduled in the order calls come in - after a big blow that can mean a short wait, and we'll tell you honestly how long. After county-wide events the queue is real, but triage is honest: occupied-structure hazards first, blocked access second, yard cleanup in call order. You'll get a straight timeline when you call, and we stick to it.
Does homeowners insurance cover storm cleanup?
Policies vary, but tree damage to structures is commonly covered. We provide photos and an itemized invoice you can submit with your claim. Typically yes when the tree hit a covered structure, fence, or vehicle; a tree that simply fell in the yard is often on the homeowner. Your policy is the authority - what we contribute is the documentation that makes the claim smooth.
